The Effect of Media Literacy on Eating Disorders of Female Athletes With the Mediating Role of Body Image

Background and Purpose: Social media play a crucial role in setting cultural standards for the ideal body, which are often unrealistic emphasize importance of thinness girls. This research aimed to explore effect literacy on eating disorders with mediating body image female athletes Izeh City, Iran. Materials Methods: correlational was applied terms purpose. The statistical population includes all females City who were engaged professional non-professional sports activities from 2021 2022. samples collected using available sampling (N=256). To collect data, we used 4 questionnaires: personal characteristics questionnaire, standard questionnaire by Karman Karatash (2009), Fairburn Beglin (1994), Garner (2004). Its validity confirmed content convergent divergent validity. reliability questionnaires Cronbach α as follows: literacy: 0.945, image: 0.821, disorders: 0.708. Data tested Pearson correlation test structural equation modeling. Results: Media negatively significantly affected athletes’ (r= -0.196) (r=-0.365). Also, (r=-0.566). Moreover, indirectly (r=0.202) image. Finally, model based mediation had good fit (GOF=0.492). Conclusion: Considering girls’ disorders, health organization should include healthy consequences educational topics schools.
